Carcassonne is one of the best-known family board games. Players take turns placing square tiles and together build a map of medieval southern France: cities, roads, fields and monasteries.
How to play
- Draw a tile and place it next to the existing ones so that all edges match.
- Optionally place one of your followers (meeples) on that tile — as a thief on a road, a knight in a city or a monk in a monastery.
- When a feature is completed, score it and take your meeple back.
The player with the most points after the last tile is placed wins.
Who it’s for
A great first step into modern board games: the rules take five minutes to explain, yet there’s enough depth to keep experienced players engaged.
